Tour de Fleece
So, I decided that I was going to participate in the Tour de Fleece this year – a spinning challenge that happens at the same time as the Tour de France cycling race. As those bicycle wheels spin, so do our wheels and we have some pretty yarn (hopefully) to show for our efforts at the end of the tour.
The challenges I set for myself were:
- To spin fiber I already had in my big rubbermaid fiber bin
- To finish two half-started projects I had on the go
- To spin up the fleece I received this spring into some nice aran weight yarn (ultimately destined for christmas presents, I hoped)
Well, one week in and I’ve finished those two projects, haven’t bought anything new (although I did dye up some nice merino I had in the bin and am very tempted to dip into that) and I’ve discovered that spinning from fleece I’ve prepared myself is much harder (and more time consuming) than I originally thought.
I’ll take a few pictures when the light is good this afternoon, but here’s a little peek at one of the projects I finished up this week.

wow! that’s gorgeous michelle. you need to come up with a label for your brand of yarn.
Thanks Leah. I totally do need a label! Any graphic designers out there who want to help me with a logo?
What’s your brand? A designer will want to start there, to make sure they’re representing it…
That is a beautiful dye job too.
Thanks for the booties… I actually saw them on your flickr account but I didn’t expect that the surprise was for us!
Hi Michelle,

Sorry to ask you once again, but what is your/tom’s email address?
