time flies…
Has it really been six weeks since my last blog post? Yikes.
Bea and I went away to visit my parents for a couple weeks and got back home this time last week. Pics are up on Flickr if you’re interested. We had a nice visit but the nesting drive was starting to kick up a notch so now that I’m back I’m getting really focused on sorting out all the cleaning, organizing, running of errands, writing of articles and cooking meals for the freezer that I want to get done before baby comes. Only nine weeks and counting (but that could actually be anytime in the next six to eleven weeks) so it’s starting to feel rather imminent.
Spring is also starting to feel imminent here on the West Coast. The prairies still have a ways to go before the serious thaw is underway.

One thing that has kind of surprised me about this pregnancy is that I’m starting to feel a little anxious or nervous about the birth. At the start of my pregnancy I thought that since I had such a great experience the first time that I wouldn’t be nervous at all about doing it again, but I’m going through a similar process of working through all these little doubts and concerns and figuring out how I’m going to deal with them. It’s kind of like having a really good baby the first time around – you can’t help but wonder whether you’ve used up your “good kid” credits already and are due for a colicky screamer. I don’t think that is necessarily true, but I’m going to use these anxieties to direct my energies towards sorting out all the little details and asking the right questions so that I can be as emotionally and practically prepared as possible for the various ways this birth experience could go.
