so here we are
I made it to the 25,000 mark last night! I was in danger of falling out of the habit entirely, having had a slow week last week in which I slacked and didn’t write most evenings. By friday, I had 7,000 words to write over the weekend to make it to my goal of halfway at halfway – 25,000 words by the end of the second week. And by gum, I did it! Concrete goals are amazing things.
I also went to UCC Library and wandered around the stacks looking for a few specific books on Transpersonal Psychology. When I walked up the stairs and into that book-smell, I felt like I had come home. When I walked out with an armful of books written by people who spent their lives studying and writing about the very best that human beings can do and believe and achieve, I felt supercharged. I’ve been spending a fair bit of time sitting at the kitchen table with a library book and a cup of tea. My next goal is going to be trying to figure out how I can do this all the time – A giant and somewhat waffley goal that needs some serious dismantling into smaller, more manageable, concrete goals.
In my non-book life, we have been going out a small bit here and there – we went to see an electro-punk show last wednesday – 3 girls in blacklit white, smearing day-glo paint on their faces and singing about the fashion industry – why, it’s chicks on speed of course! They’re not much for the singing but they make up for everything with their “we’re girls and we like to make cool noises and jump around alot” attitude. One girl was playing some sort of orb by hovering her hands over it… uber futuristic.
We’re going to see the matrix tonight, which I have heard isn’t great. We’re such suckers for trilogies, aren’t we? It’s still a good excuse to go out and see our friends.
Moving house has been set for January. New year, new house. I’m trying to figure out if I can get away with having a cat in a no-pets house. I think I can. (I think I can, I think I can, I think I can…!)
