I have noticed that there seem to be two halves of a writing experience. The subconscious part, in which writing flows as if out of a dark ocean beneath my intellectual mind, and the conscious part, which involves editing, rearranging, adding to and subtracting from the raw subconscious material in order to produce a meaningful, crafted piece. Both have their challenges, but it seems as if my brain is capable of one mode at a time.
Maybe I should just pour out everything subconscious when it is flowing, and then pick away at the conscious part later when the muse has subsided.
