let every week have two sundays!

October 27, 2003

I never really appreciated long weekends until I was working full-time for a while. It is really a wonderful thing to have two sundays in one week! One sunday to be lazy and order in pizza and sleep off the remains of saturday night. Another sunday to be productive and do all those things that need to be done on weekends – take the bottles to the bottle bank, clean the bathroom, plant bulbs in the garden, make a pro and con list to make a decision about moving house.

We have pretty much made a firm decision to move into our friend’s house, but it’s a tricky decision because there is nothing really wrong exactly with the house we are in at the moment, apart from being a bit small, lacking a garden and close to a busy road. The other house is bigger and has a nice garden,a garage and a bathtub, but it’s older and lacking brand new appliances. It’s further away from my work but closer to town. And we have no idea what the landlord is like. our friends have never seen him, which is good in some ways but bad in others – will he fix things if they break?

So we have mostly decided to move but still need to do a small bit of research – talking to the potential new landlord and getting the full tour from our friends. it would be nice to have a big house with a garden though – and potentially a kitten too. we will see.

And as for my writing, I am slowly working out a very bare-bones outline for this novel I will be writing in november. (!?) still seems a bit ludicrous, but whatever. I think I need something to throw myself into right now. I have decided to have one of my characters take a trip to Argentina. This decision was made on a whim while flipping through our atlas. Does anybody out there have any insights on Argentina?? I’ve done a small bit of research and found a few good ideas – The tango, respect for the dead, and socio-political unrest. I guess I can write this novel in november as a warm-up, then actually go to argentina for a while in order to fully experience it and then re-write the novel into a finished product. any good excuse will do to plan an adventure…!
