dreams or nightmares?
I read this article that tom sent me today. It’s about depression, and a new way of treating it. Basically, the therapist plants a metaphorical seed during therapy in the form of a story or anectdote, an illustration. The patient goes away and while they are dreaming at night, the seed sprouts and allows them to use their dreamtime to sort things out. Waking up feeling better about things helps shift daytime imaginings from negative worry to positive dreaming and visualization. and voila, positive attitude is victorious over insidious doubt and worry.
I find the whole idea of utilizing the dream state to improve one’s psychological health incredibly fascinating. there must be a reason we dream, and we can’t afford to ignore it.
