Day Two
Still in the nothing phase of my 3 weeks of freedom.
Yesterday was quite therapeutic though. It was pouring rain, and I went out and wandered around the city as the rain eased up. went through the most expensive shop in cork, Brown Thomas, and drooled over the Nine West shoes and some funky cowboy-esque boots and a very cool DKNY bag with a geometric flower design done in leather trim. 150euro. I kept walking!!
Then I came home and ate some very tasty smoked salmon from west cork and made dinner.
The plumber came by to investigate a drip that appeared in the ceiling of the second bedroom, and pronounced that the water tank on the roof had been overflowing. He said he might have to come back to “do a job on it”, briefly listened to me complain about our schizophrenic cold water tap, and was gone. no sign of him today.
After dinner, some people from the landlord came by to fix some stuff in our bathroom. It was chaos, and we could have fixed the problem better ourselves. It has made me further realize that we would really be better off, considering how much rent we are paying at the moment, to find someplace where we get a bit more value for our money.
I have spent today listening to the classical radio station, making christmas decorations, and washing laundry. It was cloudy all morning, but the sun is starting to make an appearance every now and then. It is very peaceful, and I am enjoying having time and thoughts to myself. The only decisions I have made so far have been to start looking for another place to live. And to find a pool and go for a swim.
