Christchurch

July 2, 2002

Thankfully, it hasn’t been pouring rain the entire time we have been here visiting Tom’s grandad. It was nice yesterday, and we went out driving around the countryside. Down to the ruins of an old castle, a church built in the 10th century (which was in disrepair for 200 years before it was restored and which housed a carving of Lawrence of Arabia), and to a tea shop to have tea and scones.

Today we focused on relaxing and un-winding. Walked along the beach, getting blown about by the wind and watching/listening to the crash of the waves. Took some more photos, but we will wait until we return to the land of high-speed internet to upload them.

We saw an ad for cheap tickets on the chunnel to france in the paper today, and are somewhat considering going over for a few days before heading over to Ireland. We could’ve gone over on a boat from a town nearby called Poole for quite cheap, but I went and forgot our passports at Clems. drat! Oh well. Even if we don’t go now, we can always go some other time, which is a thought which makes me quite happy regardless. I will need to brush up my french though…”Vin rouge, s’il vous plait…” maybe that is all I will need to know! :-)

More updates will be coming soon, and pictures too. We miss you all…
