Changing it up

March 7, 2010

Changes are afoot around here, some physical, some virtual and others waiting in the wings. Here’s a glimpse of a few of the changes in our house:

Claire is well into the active baby stage, crawling, chewing, pulling up on things and yanking stuff off of shelves and out of cupboards. Already she is a more intrepid explorer than Beatrice was at this stage, and I can tell that I’d better get cracking on some better babyproofing soon. Still, it’s pretty fun.

With the launch of The Parent Vortex I’m re-evaluating parts of clearbluecup, and I’ve put our family photos back behind the friends and family filter in Flickr. If you are one of my friends and family – please go create a Flickr account! It’s easy! If you really don’t want to sign up with Yahoo/Flickr, send me an email and I will send you a guest link to view our photos.

Some change creeps up on you silently and other change charges in like a freight train, and right now I feel like both kinds of change are coming at me simultaneously. Suddenly Beatrice is sounding out words and counting coins and has long, strong legs and feet. Claire’s coming up on her first birthday. Time is running past and there is no way to preserve anything, so I am trying to soak it all up, trying to keep at least the memory of Claire’s toothy, squinty baby grins and Beatrice’s giant hugs preserved for all eternity in my memory. What else can I do but this?
